Jeremy Ryan, SMScientist II
BA Chemistry and Biology, 2003, St. Mary's College of Maryland SM Chemistry, 2005, Massachusetts Institute of Technology I'm originally from southern Minnesota and moved to the east coast for college where I studied biology and chemistry at St. Mary's College of Maryland and then MIT. In 2006, I joined the Letai lab at DFCI as a technician where I started engineering new methods of BH3 profiling to make it more accessible by making it require less cellular input and operate with workflows such as flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. I've also been involved in applying BH3 profiling to a number of clinical trials including predictive biomarkers based on BH3 profiling for AML and ALL. In 2025, Dr. Anthony Letai became the director of the National Cancer Institute, prompting my move to the Davids lab where I am working on a number of projects including developing methods to inhibit the anti-apoptotic protein BFL1 aka BCL2A1 while I continue to support our efforts to get BH3 profiling into prospective trials where it could better assist clinicians in choosing the right therapy for each patient. Outside of the lab, I am fond of digital photography, especially wildlife photography, drawing, and sci-fi and fantasy writing. |
